Mechanical equipment and parts: product waterproof level certification
GB/T 4208-2017 Enclosure Protection Level (IP Code)
01
Service Introduction
The waterproof level certification of mechanical equipment and parts is an authoritative certification mechanism that systematically evaluates the protection ability of electrical equipment casings to water intrusion. It aims to verify that products are exposed to different water environments such as dripping, dripping, spraying, and soaking through standardized testing. The sealing performance ensures long-term reliable operation of the equipment in wet, rainy, cleaning, and soaking scenarios. This certification is mainly based on the national standard GB/T 4208-2017 "Enclosure Protection Level (IP Code)", carries out hierarchical testing and comprehensive evaluation of the waterproof level of the product, and finally grants a product certification certificate that meets the requirements.
The waterproof level is divided
according to the GB/T 4208-2017 standard. The waterproof ability is represented by the second digit of the IP code, which is divided into ten levels from 0 to 9. The larger the number, the stronger the protection ability. IPX1 can prevent dripping vertically, IPX2 can prevent dripping at a tilt of 15 degrees, IPX3 can prevent dripping water, IPX4 can prevent splashing water, IPX5 can prevent spraying water, IPX6 can prevent strong spraying water, IPX7 can be immersed for a short time (1 meter water depth for 30 minutes), IPX8 can be sustainable diving (conditions agreed between the manufacturer and the user), and IPX9 can prevent high-temperature and high-pressure spraying (hot water at 80 degrees Celsius). The waterproof level of the shell is represented by the second characteristic number, and the corresponding waterproof level can be selected for certification according to the product's use environment.
Certification process
The certification of waterproof level of mechanical equipment and parts products is usually divided into the following stages:
application and submission of materials: Select a third-party testing institution with CNAS and CMA qualifications, and submit the company's business license, product manual, shell material certificate, sealing structure description, Product drawings and other information.
Product sampling inspection: The laboratory performs testing according to target level requirements. IPX7 needs to complete a 30-minute immersion test at a water depth of 1 meter, IPX8 needs to complete the immersion test according to agreed conditions, IPX5 to IPX6 need to complete the water spray test, and IPX9 needs to complete the high temperature and high pressure injection test. The test period is usually 5 to 7 working days.
Functional verification and determination: Check the internal water inflow after the test. Water must not accumulate on insulating parts that may cause leakage traces. After IPX7 test, the equipment is required to function normally, the seals are intact, and there is no trace of water inside.
Rectification and review: If there are non-conformities in the test, the company needs to analyze the reasons and re-send samples for testing after rectification.
Certification decision and certification: After passing all tests, the certification body issues a formal test report, which clearly concludes that "complies with GB/T 4208-2017 IPXX waterproof level requirements" and is stamped with a CNAS or CMA seal. Domestic products are reported in Chinese using GB/T4208 standard, and export products are reported in English using IEC60529 standard.
Certification value
guarantees product reliability: Through scientific waterproof level certification, it ensures long-term stable operation of machinery and parts in wet, rainy, cleaning, soaking and other environments. More than 30% of early failures of industrial equipment are related to insufficient environmental protection, of which water vapor is one of the main factors.
Meet market access requirements: In project bidding in outdoor lighting, communication base stations, new energy charging, security monitoring and other industries, IP waterproof level certification is the core access qualification, and IP65 or IP67 is generally used as an access requirement.
Reduce maintenance costs: Certified waterproofing solutions can significantly reduce the frequency of equipment downtime and maintenance and component replacement costs caused by water vapor intrusion.
Improve export competitiveness: IEC 60529 waterproof rating certification has high recognition in the international market and is an effective technical certificate for products to enter overseas markets.
Standardize production and quality improvement: The certification process forces companies to establish a standardized waterproofing process system, including structural design, seal selection, process control and quality inspection.
